Feminism. What is it? Is it some ploy of which women created specifically to target men? That’s the common misconception most people unfortunately have. When asked why I wanted to create a blog about women rights, the first thought that popped into my mind was: because there should be. Often enough, people misinterpret feminism with sexism, of which the definition can be found here. We, are concerned with feminism. Women can be feminists. Men can be feminists. Non-binary individuals can be feminists. Essentially, being a feminist means that you care about and advocate in favour of equality between the sexes, in terms of rights, responsibilities, and basic human decency. Educate yourself further through this website, where you can also donate to the cause. Through this blog, I will give you some insight and my perspective about the idea of feminism, and what it means to live in an ideal feminist world, where the media and news have a very high influence on a person's train of thoughts.

Empowering Women

For a woman to be considered, especially in a developing country and in earlier centuries, as an equal to a man is certainly a foreign concept to many. Statistics on gender-based violence demonstrate a high prevalence of different forms of violence against women across the EU including Malta, with percentages which range to being higher than EU averages. Though the unification of women around the world has since improved slightly from past times, a woman still has a long journey to equality. One important issue which needs to be addressed continually is the factor of gender-based violence, both physically and psychologically.
